Cycling Rebellion is a movement to put people before cars in our towns and cities
Our streets were built wrong, to accommodate nothing but cars. We demand radical change in active travel infrastructure across the UK. Calling for nothing short of immediate infrastructure change in order to tackle the climate emergency and the thousands of casualties across the UK every year. Mass rollouts of Lower speed limits, LTNs and affordable infrastructure. That’s what we need to do if we are taking this crisis seriously, and we need to do it now.
Cycling Rebellion is calling on people all over the UK to take action with us to secure a future for generations to come. Start a local group, start a mass bike ride in your area, and take action. We will provide all the resources and support you need to make a difference.
We will gather under Waterloo Bridge, South Bank to ride on mass to the Dpt. of Transport. There we will ‘die in’ on our bikes, representative of those who have lost their lives bravely cycling in spite of our dangerous roads. We will make our demands to the government, and call on people all over the UK to mobilise to SAVE OUR STREETS.
We can no longer wait for slow change while the world around us is destroyed. The time to act is now. Join us.

Cycling Rebellion is calling for radical change in how we get around our towns and cities. We have a vision of redefining public spaces to be for people before cars. Through activism, we empower people to create change in their communities and demand radical change across the UK. Through action, we demand a better tomorrow, for kids to be able to cycle to school safely, for the air to be clean and an end to traffic misery.
We have built our urban spaces with motor traffic as a priority, and this needs to change. Sitting in traffic is miserable. It began with the mass construction of highways and suburbs, and now it has trapped us in car dependency, crippling our society. Sustainable travel is the solution, it’s better for our mental and physical health, wallets (it costs an average person £3500 a year to drive), and better for the planet. There is hope for a new way of getting around our places, and progress is being made, but we are running out of time. Switching to sustainable travel is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to change the way we live our lives, and secure a liveable future in light of the climate crisis. 15% of GHG emissions are a result of transport, and they may be some of the hardest to remove.
Join us to create the world you want to live in.

“A cyclist is a disaster for the country’s economy: he does not buy cars and does not borrow money to buy. He does not pay for insurance policies. He does not buy fuel, does not pay for the necessary maintenance and repairs. He does not use paid parking. He does not cause serious accidents. He does not require multi-lane highways. He does not get fat.
Healthy people are neither needed nor useful for the economy. They don’t buy medicine. They do not go to hospitals or doctors. Nothing is added to the country’s GDP (gross domestic product).
On the contrary, every new McDonald’s restaurant creates at least 30 jobs: 10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 dietary experts and nutritionists, and obviously, people who work at the restaurant itself.
Choose carefully: Cycling or McDonald’s? It is worth considering.
P.S. Walking is even worse. Pedestrians don’t even buy bicycles."
